What can you do at a Sunflower Farm? We took a trip to Sanborn in Niagara County, New York to find out.
Sunflowers of Sanborn is home to close to 10 beautiful acres of Sunflowers and opens to the public in August each summer.
When you arrive at Sunflowers of Sanborn, park your car in the lot and head to the entrance where friendly staff will answer your questions.
You can walk through fields of dense sunflowers along cut walking paths. Look closely at the flowers, there are up to eight varieties featuring different color combinations. Flowers are also grow to different heights, making great photo opportunities for little ones and adults.
There is a separate cutting field where you can clip your own sunflowers to take home and enjoy. Flowers are a modest $1 per stem. When you consider there is no admission fee to enjoy the fields, the entire experience is very friendly to families on a budget.
Bring comfortable walking shoes and your camera. It’s a great place to take great portraits or casual selfies.
If you want to have professional photographs taken, ask your photographer to contact Sunflowers of Sanborn for a photographer’s permit.
The grounds are also pet-friendly. Well-behaved dogs on a leash are always welcome.
There are small shopping boutiques and food vendors on site. You’ll also find a regular schedule of events for hands-on activities from crafting to outdoor exercise.
Did we mention the corn maze? Yes you can purchase a ticket to walk through the winding paths in the corn field and see how long it takes to find your way out.
Sunflowers of Sanborn is located at 3311 Saunders Settlement Road in the town of Sanborn.
Visitor hours are 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM daily during their season.
